Where Are You Located?
The Mutt Scouts is located in Los Angeles. Mostly we (humans) are in the downtown/Silverlake/Echo Park area but we have volunteers and fosters all over LA.
What Is The Process To Adopt A Mutt Scouts Dog?
First, take a look at our adoptable dogs on Petfinder.com or AdoptAPet.com. If you’d like to adopt one of the dogs you see listed, please fill out our online application here. We will review your application and if we think you and the dog will be a good fit, we’ll contact you within the week to set up a meeting. After the meeting we will bring the dog to your home and do a quick home check, fill out paperwork, and leave you with your new buddy! When other pets are involved or in certain special instances, we may suggest you do a two week trial with the dog to make sure this is the right fit for you and him/her.
Where Do I Go To Meet The Dog I’m Interested In?
The Mutt Scouts do not have our own kennels for boarding our adoptable dogs at this time. We find loving foster homes for our dogs while they are awaiting adoption or, if we can’t find a foster, we pay to keep them in boarding. If you would like to meet one of our dogs, please fill out our online application. If we think you’ll be a good fit with that particular dog, then we’ll contact you within a week and set up a meeting with the dog.

How Much Does It Cost To Adopt A Mutt Scouts Dog?
Our adoption fee is $300. These fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter, shots, vet bills and all the food/care/boarding during the dog’s time with us. Of course the snuggling and love we give them is free of charge🙂
I Don’t Live Near Los Angeles, Can I Adopt A Mutt Scouts Dog?
Unfortunately, no. We require a home visit for all of our adoptable dogs to ensure their safety and well being, therefore we only adopt to homes that are within driving distance from LA. This can include as far North as Santa Barbara and as far South as San Diego for special cases, but we generally try to adopt within the greater Los Angeles area.
I Sent An Application Last Week But Haven’t Heard Back From You. Why?
If you haven’t heard from us within a week from receiving your application, it likely means that either the dog you are interested in is in a trial or has already been adopted, or because we feel we could find a better fit for the dog. This usually isn’t because of any fault of your own – there are so many variables to consider when matching a dog with its new home (children, other pets, exercise needs, etc…) that we are only trying to do what’s best for the dog and for you. Either way, there is surely the perfect adoptable dog out there for you and we encourage you to apply for our other dogs up for adoption. We are so grateful that you are choosing adoption!

How Is My Donation Used?
All donations go directly to helping the dogs; everyone involved with The Mutt Scouts puts in their hard work and time as unpaid volunteers. Of course we do get paid in plenty of doggy kisses and tail wags! All donations go towards the cost of taking dogs out of the shelter, having them spayed or neutered, food, bedding, collars and leashes, website maintenance, vet bills, and boarding. The adoption fees we receive rarely cover the cost of getting an individual dog placed with his or her new family so donations are extremely appreciated!
